FAQs

  • Lip blush is semi-permanent - it can last 2-3 years.

Factors such as sun exposure and smoking can speed up the fading process. If you’re oil-prone, have an iron deficiency or use a lot of exfoliating products, this may cause the pigment to fade faster.

An annual colour boost is highly recommended to maintain the colour’s vibrancy.

  • Of course! We highly encourage you to bring your favourite everyday lipstick and we can create a similar mixture.

We’re also more than happy to custom mix something unique and perfect for your complexion.

Please note the colour will look bold and vibrant for the first few days. The colour will peel and heal 40-60% lighter once healed. If you’re hoping to achieve your desired colour immediately after the session, once your lips peel about a week later, the healed result will be barely detectable.

I will also involve you in the mapping of your lip shape.

  • High quality numbing cream is used. We’ll apply it for 20 mins at the start and then constantly reapply throughout the whole session.

Most clients say the pain is tolerable at the start and are surprised that they don’t feel much as the session continues and the numbing cream sets in more.

Your comfort and safety is my number one priority. I will check how you’re feeling throughout the procedure to make sure you’re comfortable as possible.

  • Please allow 2-3 hours for the initial session. This includes consultation where we select your perfect colour, map your desired lip shape, make sure you’re all numbed up and discuss important aftercare instructions.

The touch up session (6-8 weeks after the initial session) typically requires 1.5 -2 hours.

  • Yes, you can! However, even if you have had a cold sore/fever blister ONCE many years ago, you must see your doctor/pharmacist for anti-viral medication. You need to take the meds days prior and following the procedure. Medication will reduce the risk of an outbreak or the severity of the outbreak if it does occur.

The herpes simplex virus is very common. Approximately 80% of the population have the virus laying dormant within them. Lip blush may have the potential to agitate an outbreak if you already have the virus in your system. Even if you have never experienced physical symptoms, you may wish to take medication or L-Lysine supplements as a preventative measure.

It’s not something to be afraid of! The risk can totally be managed. I’m happy to discuss this further.

  • You may be surprised at how easy the process is. Lip blush heals quickly and the healing process is quite comfortable. It only takes around 4-7 days for your lips to fully peel and then your routine goes back to normal - except you don’t have to ever wear lip stick again!

Some people may experience some swelling and/or slight bruising. This quickly subsides within 24-48 hours.

  • The healing process varies from client to client. Typically, you can expect the following timeline:

    • Day 1 - immediately after procedure, lips will look bright and bigger. It is normal for lips to feel tender to the touch.

    • Day 2-3 - lips may feel dry and tight (similar feeling to a mild sunburn). The colour looks darker as it has oxidised. Swelling will have subsided.

    • Day 4-6 - the skin on your lips will peel and flake off naturally. Outer edges are usually the last to peel.

    • Day 7-10 - lips would have completely peeled and may still feel dry. You can gently exfoliate at this point. The colour will appear light and almost frosty at first.

    • Week 2 onwards - the colour will start to bloom and develop beautifully. Your lip colour will continue to change over the course of the coming weeks before stabilising.

    • Weeks 6-8 - the colour has fully developed and you are ready for your touch up where adjustments can be made.

*Please note that a slightly different healing timeframe is to be expected if your lips are two-toned or dark.

  • The healing process varies from client to client. Typically, you can expect the following timeline:

    • Day 1 - immediately after procedure, lips will look very bright and bigger. It will also feel tender to the touch.

    • Day 2-3 - lips may feel dry and tight (similar feeling to a mild sunburn). The colour looks more intense as it is oxidising.

    • Day 4-6 - the skin on your lips will peel and flake off naturally.

    • Day 7-10 - lips would have completely peeled and may still feel dry. You can gently exfoliate at this point. Lips often still look dark/two-toned at this point.

    • Weeks 2-5 - your lip colour will continue to change over the course of the weeks. It is completely normal for lips to look TEMPORARILY darker or patchy during this stage. The skin has been traumatised and as a response the body is producing more melanin (dark skin cells). You are able to wear makeup during this stage while your lips continue to change colour.

    • Weeks 8-10 - the dark pigmentation will have lighten and even out beautifully. Your lips will look more uniform in colour and you are ready for your touch up session.

*Please note that clients with dark lips will require a minimum of 2 neutralising sessions to lighten or correct the dark pigmentation. Sessions are spaced 8-10 weeks apart. Additional sessions may be required to achieve your desired colour.

  • Our lip skin often extends pass the pinkness of our lips, making our lips looks smaller than they are. Most people find that lip blush will add colour to their naturally pale vermillion border. While I can’t tattoo on face skin as it will heal very poorly, you’ll be surprised with how much we can do.

Lip blush often gives the illusion of bigger lips as it can maximise the extra lip skin we have. It is a great alternative to lip filler.

  • A gorgeous combo!

People often lose colour (especially at their lip borders) after their lips are stretched with filler.

Lip blush will redefine your lip shape and it will add a beautiful even colour.

You will just need to wait 6 weeks after lip filler before your lip blush session.

  • Not at all. Often our lips look smaller as our lip border bends with our skin colour.

Lip blush will enhance the size and shape of smaller lips.

  • Lip blush heals to look quite natural and subtle (more like a lip tint or sheer coverage lipstick). You may prefer more of a lipstick look and we can absolutely build up the saturation to achieve that.

Please note 2+ sessions may be needed for more of a lipstick look, especially if you have darker tones to begin with. I will assess your lips at consultation and we will come up with a game plan.

  • We use Permablend and Evenflo pigments for all lip blush procedures. These are high quality, vegan and cruelty-free pigments manufactured in the US for cosmetic tattooing. You may wish to read more about the pigments through their website.
